TITANIC :THE CRUELTY OF FATE

Of all the tempting secrets under the ocean floor, nothing is more mysterious or compelling than the TITANIC. This is the Titanic that we know from the books,films & television. Titanic is just not a story of the wreak, but it is the fate of all those misfortune civilian,who were destined to terminate there journey somewhere in the Atlantic.
1.TITANIC;The largest ship afloat
- The name Titanic derives from, "The Titan" of the Greek mythology.
- ROYAL MAIL SHIP (RMS) Titanic,was built by Belfast ship builders in The Great Britain and Ireland.
- It was one of the largest vessels owned and operated by White Star Line's fleet.
2.Features
- The Titanic was equipped by 3 main engines that generated 30000HP energy.
- Titanic's electrical plant was capable of producing more power than that of an average city power station.
- The RadioTelegraph equipment was leased to White Star Line by Marconi Int. Marine Communication Company,and was in 24/7 service informing about the weather and iceberg.
- The passengers were provided with standard luxurious facilities of deep saltwater, swimming pool, gymnasium,squash coart & 20 life boats.
3.Tour toward the death
- The maiden voyage was subjected to Trans-Atlantic crossing from Southampton to NewYork,via Cherboarg and Queenstown.
- Cap.Edward Smith ,the senior most of White Star Line was appointed to command the voyage.Finally The Titanic left Southampton on Wednesday,10th April 1912
- On initial 3 days of the voyage, before it reached Ireland the weather was warm & the temperature was quite high. On the following day they came across cold weather and strong wind.
4.The Calamity
- Till the evening of 14th April, Titanic received enough warning that they were drifting ice in area of Newfoundland, nevertheless they continued streaming at full speed.
- Around 12pm Frederick Fleet spotted an iceberg and immediately ordered ship to steer around the obstacle and stop the engine.
- But it was too late now,the starboard side struck the iceberg, creating series of holes below the water level.
- Soon it was clear that the ship was doomed and Titanic began sinking from its bow first.
- Titanic had lifeboat that could carry only half of the people. "Women and Children first"was the protocol followed to fill the lifeboat,while the crew & male passengers were left aboard.
- Around 3 am of 15th April the ship was totally sank into 2 parts in the ocean. All other passengers were immersed into the lethal cold water of -2°C,this lead to immediate death within minutes due to cardiac arrest.
- Around 4am RMS CARPATHIA arrived on the scene,in response to Titanic's earlier distress calls.
- It took 3 more days for Carpathia to reach NewYork,with some suffers of the accident.
- Finally on 18th April 1912 it was confirmed that TITANIC was no more.
My heart goes with the victims, who's fate became the immortal story for the forthcoming generations 🙏
